The Founding Story

Why MBM Ventures Group Exists

MBM Ventures Group didn't start as an acquisition firm. It started with operating companies serving the mental and behavioral health world — an association operating system, a behavioral health media studio, a nationwide events platform, and a governing discipline — built and run by Selina Parker, M.A.

Operating those companies means constant contact with the founders behind this sector's businesses: the CE providers, the niche publications, the practice-adjacent tools, the coaching brands, the member-services firms. And across all of them, the same quiet question kept surfacing: who do I hand this to when I'm done?

"Founders in mental health and association services have had three exits: a private-equity buyer who strips the mission, a broker who disappears at closing, or a website that quietly goes dark. Nobody who builds something real deserves those options."

Generic buyers can't price what these businesses are actually worth, because the value lives in things a spreadsheet can't see — clinical trust, engaged communities, reusable expertise. MBM Ventures Group exists to be the buyer that can — because we already operate the infrastructure these businesses plug into on day one.

The Exit-to-Icon method is the result: acquisition engineered around what happens after the deal closes. Growth through the ecosystem. Post-exit income through the Founder Reuse System. And the founder's expertise treated as the most valuable asset in the deal — not a liability to be transitioned away.

The Mandate
Buy and build in the world we know.
We acquire businesses adjacent to mental and behavioral health, associations and member services — or businesses that strengthen an operating company in the ecosystem.
The Method
Exit-to-Icon
An acquisition method built around what happens to the founder's expertise after the deal closes — not just the transaction itself.
The Advantage
Ecosystem capability, available at close.
The ecosystem's operating companies are available from day one — operations, media production, and sector visibility.
The Lens
Behavioral-science diligence.
Every deal starts with a systems question: what must be designed differently so this business scales beyond its founder? That lens shapes the price we pay and the plan we run.
The Investment Thesis

The Beliefs That Drive
Every Decision We Make

These aren't positioning statements. They are the operating principles behind every acquisition, every deal structure, and every brand inside the MBM Ventures Group ecosystem.

01
Most businesses are acquired away from their founders too soon.
The moment a founder exits, the institutional knowledge, audience trust, and brand authority they spent years building begins to erode. The Founder Reuse System exists to prevent that. Every deal MBM Ventures Group structures includes a post-exit income architecture — licensing, royalties, speaking, co-authorship — because the founder's expertise is the most valuable asset in the deal, not a liability to be transitioned away.
02
Most buyers bring capital. We bring an operating ecosystem.
Private equity brings a check and a 100-day plan. We bring an association operating system, a behavioral health media studio, and a sector-wide events platform — operating capability available the moment a deal closes. The compounding advantage this creates over a generic buyer is not marginal. It is structural.
03
Mental health is the most underleveraged category in business today.
The mental health sector is full of brilliant operators, clinicians, and association leaders who have built real institutions — and almost none of them have the operational infrastructure, media presence, or governance architecture to scale beyond what one person can manage. That gap is where MBM Ventures Group operates. It is a genuine market inefficiency, and we are purpose-built to close it.
The Founder

Selina Parker, M.A.

Every acquisition decision at MBM Ventures Group is made by an operator who works in this sector every day — not a fund manager learning it from a term sheet.

Ecosystem
Operating Companies

Selina Parker is a buyer who operates. She founded and runs the operating companies in the ecosystem — serving mental and behavioral health associations, brands, and the professionals behind them. That is the diligence advantage: she knows what a mental health or association-adjacent business is actually worth, because she operates the machinery it would plug into.

Her training in Industrial-Organizational Psychology — the behavioral science of how people function inside institutions — shapes how every deal is evaluated and every integration is run. A business that runs on its founder's memory needs a different deal structure than one that runs on systems. Knowing the difference before the term sheet is what protects both sides of the transaction.

In 2024, Selina co-presented with Dr. Margaret Rutherford, Ph.D. at the Arkansas Psychological Association Fall Conference — an APA CE-Approved program — peer validation inside the professional association world that MBM360 was built to serve. That moment mattered not because of the stage, but because of what it signified: an operator who built the tools, then earned the right to stand in front of the people using them.

When you sell to MBM Ventures Group, you're not handing your life's work to a financial buyer learning your industry at your expense. You're handing it to an operator who already works in your world — and has already built what your business needs next.

The Ecosystem

An Operating Ecosystem.
One Closed-Loop Advantage.

How We Operate

The Four Commitments
Behind Every Deal

These are not aspiration statements. They are behavioral commitments — things we will do, and things we will not do, in every founder relationship.

01
Honest Before Hopeful
We will tell you if we're not the right fit for your business — even if that ends the conversation. A founder who enters the wrong deal because we oversold ourselves loses more than a deal. They lose time, optionality, and trust. We'd rather lose a deal than cause that outcome. If we say we're a fit, we mean it with specificity.
02
Legacy Over Liquidity
Every deal structure we build starts with a question most buyers never ask: what does this founder need this business to still be in ten years? Liquidity is a component of a good exit. It is not the definition of one. The Founder Reuse System exists because we believe the founder's post-exit life matters as much as the transaction itself.
03
Systems Over Relationships
We do not run our operations on personal knowledge that leaves when people leave. Every process, every decision rationale, every client relationship is documented in systems that survive any individual's departure. We hold ourselves to the same design standard we apply to the organizations we serve. We are not exempt from our own discipline.
04
Sector Specificity, Not Sector Agnosticism
We are not a generalist acquirer. We operate in mental health, behavioral health, wellness, and professional associations — because that is where our ecosystem creates compounding advantage. A generalist buyer brings capital. We bring category fluency, client relationships, and operational infrastructure that took years to build. That specificity is a feature, not a limitation.

"The right exit isn't the end of your story.
It's the beginning of your institution.
We are here to make sure the world doesn't lose
your genius when you hand over the keys."
